STEM

The curricula for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects at ALS DNK are designed to nurture a passion for these subjects and inculcate a spirit of inquiry.

At ALS DNK, the curriculum design seeks to enable students to view the pursuit of Science as meaningful and useful. Inquiry is thus grounded in knowledge, issues and questions that relate to the roles played by science in daily life, society and the environment.

Our curriculum is designed to inculcate a spirit of scientific inquiry, by encouraging students to learn through more hands-on experiences and open-ended investigations.

For all students, our Academics department regularly organises a range of enrichment activities to complement learning in the classroom. Through sharing by specialists, field trips, site visits to relevant organisations and participation in science-related competitions, students gain first-hand experience about how science may be applied in a real-world context.

ALS DNK believes in providing a student-centric and ICT-enriched mode of learning and teaching. Our students study the theoretical and practical aspects of the use of technology in today’s society and the use of software applications to tackle and solve problems. Our Primary Years students develop a set of ICT skill competencies which represent a basic level of knowledge, skills and values that pupils need in order to fully benefit from a curriculum enriched with ICT, and eventually thrive in a technology-driven society. In Middle & Senior School, students learn to analyse, design, program and evaluate ICT systems and solutions. They also learn media-making techniques, basic web development and programming.
